Mensa Alaska
IQ Testing

Intelligence Testing

There are two ways to qualify to join Mensa; through prior evidence or by taking The Mensa Admission Tests.

Prior Evidence:

Applicants who have scored in the top 2% on a supervised standardized intelligence test may submit test scores. This evidence must be on the institution/agency/clinic letterhead and signed by the psychologist responsible for the testing. The documentation should also include the license certification number issued by the state in which the psychologist practices.

If documentation is in the form of a school transcript, it must be an official transcript complete with the school's embossed seal. An armed forces record must be a notarized copy.

Prior evidence will be evaluated at the home office in Fort Worth, Texas. Mensa reserves the right to make the final determination as to the acceptability of the test. There is a processing fee of $30.

Acceptable scores to be used as prior  evidence can be found here.

Mensa Admission Tests:

Individuals interested can take the two designated admissions tests, supervised by a certified Mensa proctor. The tests are scored at the home office and applicants will receive notification of their scores within four to six weeks from test date. Those who score at or above the 98% on one of the two tests will qualify and receive an offer of membership. A battery of culture-fair and non-language tests are available. Mensa Admission Tests are not valid for children under the age of 14 (they can qualify through prior evidence). There is a test fee of $30.

There is a home pretest available. If a high enough score is achieved, you will receive encouragement to take the admissions test.

Testing in the Anchorage area can be given by special arrangement through the Main Proctor.  It takes about 1 to 1 1/2 hours, Those interested who are not in the Anchorage area may contact the proctors nearest them.  E-mail the main proctor (See below) to make arrangements.
